    Das Haus liegt zwar an einer kleinen Straße, ist aber ruhig. Es ist zweckmäßig, aber schön eingerichtet. Pool ist sauber, Garten schön. Zum Erholen wunderbar. Wir werden es wieder buchen.

    Calonge is a small town, set on a hill and the house is on the East side of this. Calonge is full of one way streets that means there may be a slight detour through some narrow streets to reach the house. The street, where the house is, is a one-way street, as is the street at the end of the road. Mostrar más The street is quite steep, more than Google Maps indicated but all this shouldn’t put you off. The double gates to the property allow ample room to enter and park on the stone slabs that make up the “driveway”. Depending on the size of the car and the ability of the driver, it should be possible to turn the car round on the space provided, although, driving in and reversing out may prove easier and more sensible. The house consists of a large downstairs area that makes up the lounge/dinning room and has ample seating. There is a log fire in the corner, which wasn’t used and a television. This wasn’t used much since one of the group, as is usual nowadays, bought along a laptop with a number of downloaded films on it. This was just as well as using the wireless communication could be very slow if more than one person was using it but it was adequate for checking the weather and maps and looking for places of interest. Also downstairs are the kitchen and a toilet/shower room. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything except an oven, which wasn’t missed. There is enough cutlery, glasses, plates, cups and pots and pans etc., along with two types of coffee machine (the one that George Cluney likes and a more normal filter type), a toaster, microwave, kettle, washing machine and a dishwasher. I couldn’t think of anything I wanted that wasn’t there, apart from, maybe, a larger sink to do the washing in. No, I didn’t use the dishwasher. The downstairs toilet/shower room has a shower cubicle that is a little small for the more amply proportioned amongst us, which is a pity because they do have room to fit a larger unit. Upstairs is the main bathroom and it is much larger. The shower is part of a bath/shower unit, the type that employs a combination tap and a lever to change the direction of the water from the bath to the shower. Also, upstairs are the three bedrooms. The first has a double bed and is quite large. The second has twin beds and is slightly smaller than the first. The third is much larger than the first two and has twin beds. All the bedrooms have ample amount of drawer and cupboard space to hide your clothes and deposit your suitcases. There were four of us, that stayed here and we are all motorcyclists and if anyone has toured with a motorcycle you will know how much clobber there can be, what with the panniers, tank bags, clothing and helmets etc. We found the house had more than enough space to accommodate all our clobber. We stayed here in the last two weeks in April and while it was quite warm during the day, at night the temperature could plummet. The central heating in the house was more than adequate to keep the house cosy. The outside swimming pool wasn’t used and neither was the barbeque but the outside table and chairs were and it was very pleasant, with a view across a narrow valley, to the East and all the vineyards and fruit trees. The town centre is less than 400 yards away and there is a Spar supermarket a little further, to the North of the town. The town has a fair amount of shops, restaurants and cafes but some have to be sought out as they maybe around a corner or two. A fuel station is a little further than the supermarket but in the opposite direction and on the Western approaches to the town. I liked the town as it is a working town. True, on the hills to the West and North are all the villas and quite a few are for rent as holiday homes but the town is not just a touristy place. Some of the places, where you can rent a house, are set in areas that were built for the holiday rental market but Calonge is a “proper” town and is all the more pleasant for it. If there are any comments that might be negative it would be directed to the hot water system. This is provided by a combination boiler and I don’t find these work well. The hot water to the kitchen could be quite cool and balancing the water in the showers could be fiddly, especially if you are used to a power shower. I would certainly consider staying in this area if not this house again. A very pleasant week. The keys were collected from the local office and after paying for the towels, bedding and cleaning and collecting the wireless unit, a map was provided and directions given to the house. At the end of the week, returning the keys was just as simple and quick. The staff were friendly, efficient and spoke English. Reducir opciones
